Manchester’s inward investment agency, MIDAS, is to partner with Deloitte India in a bid to encourage top performing companies in India’s thriving IT sector to set up new operations in the North of England.
During a week-long tour of the country, representatives from both organisations will host sessions with the winners of Deloitte India’s 2017 Technology Fast50 competition – a group comprising the country’s fastest growing tech firms.
Events are scheduled to take place in the National Capital Region next Monday (27), followed by Mumbai (28), Chennai (30) and Bangalore (December 1).
Manchester has a strong digital infrastructure, along with the UK’s second highest proportion of tech businesses wanting to establish themselves in one of the city region’s flourishing hubs, which includes MediaCityUK.
Establishment packages are also available to other Indian tech companies interested in setting up a Manchester operation.
Dan Storer, director of business development at MIDAS, said: “The Deloitte Fast 50 is an effective way for Manchester to promote its world-class digital and technology offer and attract some of India’s most exciting high growth companies. With the support of our partners, this year’s Manchester establishment package promises to be bigger and better.
“Manchester’s digital and technology cluster is already one Europe’s most significant centres and provides the ideal environment for Indian high-growth companies to thrive. Deloitte Fast50 Winners will have the opportunity to work alongside tech industry giants such as IBM, Microsoft and Cisco.
As well as being at the heart of the UK’s Northern Powerhouse initiative, Manchester is home to the 2016 winner of the Deloitte Fast 50 contest, 42Gears, as well as HCL Technologies, Aegis and India’s largest bicycle manufacturer, Hero Cycles.
Rajiv Sundar, a partner at Deloitte India, said: “The Technology Fast 50 program recognises the fastest growing technology businesses in India based on their percentage revenue growth over the past three financial years. It is a recognition of both their growth and ambition.
“It is a pleasure that MIDAS has decided to continue its association with our program Tech Fast50 for the second consecutive year and is hosting interaction events for Deloitte’s Technology Fast50 2017 winners. We hope that these interactive sessions will allow our winners to network with their peers and explore global and domestic opportunities.”
Mobile software specialist 42Gears supplies its Enterprise Mobility Management solution to more than 7,000 companies in over 105 countries around the world. It supports the deployment of mobile applications on devices such as tablets, smartphones, rugged devices, laptops and smartwears.
Kaushik Sindhu, the firm’s associate vice-president and head of 42Gears EU/UK, said: “Winning the 2016 Deloitte Fast 50 contest presented a great international opportunity for our company and Manchester is an exciting city to do business.
“Within the first few months of being established in Manchester, 42Gears has been introduced to key businesses, academic and have attended a series or networking events organised by MIDAS.”
