Young British Indians deliver road safety event in Bangalore

The Indian Chamber of Youth Entrepreneurs (ICYE) has carried out a Road Safety Awareness day in the city of Bangalore in a bid to reduce traffic accidents.

The ICYE is an organisation formed by enterprising youth in both the UK and India.

shobha3The Bangalore event kickstarted with a Road Show involving more than 240 school students with a theme of Traffic Safety Awareness.

Enthusiastic students from four local schools staged a display of colourful placards, banners and posters, bearing messages on Traffic Awareness and also shouted slogans on Road Safety.

The ceremony was presided by Shri Abhishek Goyal, IPS,DCP Bangalore East. Renowned international cricketer and Advisor to ICYE Shri Venkatesh Prasad was also present.

ICYE Secretary and British Indian Dr Satheesh Krishnamurthy said: “We wanted to make a difference in the society both in India and UK through enterprise and societal impact which is key to our mission.”

Dr Satheesh, who is at The Open University in Newcastle, UK, said: “As part of the event, brainstorming sessions to increase Road Safety were organized. shobha4

“The audience contributed ideas on ways and means to evangelize Road Safety among the citizens. Prevention of Drunken Driving, Distracted Driving(use of mobile phones while driving) and Underage Driving were some of he topics of discussion.”

Cricketer Venkatesh Prasad interacted with the audience. He urged the students to spread the message on road safety rules among their family and friends.
