Top Indian poets visit Manchester

kavi5The Vedic Organisation for Indian Culture (VOICE) has staged an poetry evening known as Kavi Sammelan at  St Peter’s Assembly Rooms in Manchester.

Top Indian poets H.E. Keshrinath Tripathi, the Governor of West Bengal, Shri Gajendra Solanki from Delhi, Shri Suresh Awasthyfrom Kanpur and Mumbai’s Shri Dinesh Bowra joined Smt Anju Jain from Ghaziabad and Sushri Poonam Verma from Mathurapresented their work.

The event was organised by Shri Tarun Kumar, from the Indian High Commission and supported by
the High Commission of India and Indian Council of Cultural Relations in UK.

Dr Poonam Kakkar the secretary of VOICE said: ‘’The event was well attended and it was surprising to witness a large Hindi poetry loving audience in Manchester.’’

The audience were thrilled to listen to the poetry which was full of comedy.

Manchester based poet Sheel Nigam said : ”The programme was a great success. The audience laughed throughout the evening and enjoyed it very much.” Organisors thanked Honorary Secretary Dr Poonam Kakkar (VOICE) and the Honorary Treasurer Shri Nawal K Prinja (VOICE) for their support to the event.
