Manchester will host the UK’s largest international yoga festival in June, bringing together experts in yoga, spiritualism, and food to teach about holistic living.
The HOLISTIC: International Festival of Yoga, will take place at MediaCity UK on 16th and 17th June. It is a two-day celebration promoting anything involved in holistic living and will focus on; the Mind, to calm and focus, the Body, to cleanse and nourish, and the Spirit, to renew and awaken. Leaving participants with a fresh and positive outlook on life.
The event has three aims; ‘Reunite’, ‘Rejoice’ and ‘Reflect’, and will bring together artists, musicians, coaches, yoga gurus and chefs to reflect upon technique, music, food, healing and living in truly a holistic manner.
The focal point of the weekend will be ‘Reunite’, which will feature two mass outdoor yoga flow classes bringing together 800 yogis to practice on the Piazza at Media City UK. The classes will be led by internationally renowned yoga gurus including an ex-Bollywood star and a Chinese opera singer.
India’s top yoga guru Swami Jyothirmayah will represent the Art of Living Foundation, former Bollywood actor turned yoga expert Bijay Anand, and Yoga specialist and teacher Wayne Yeh from China will conduct special sessions on the Piazza.
HOLISTIC is created and managed by Media City UK-based events company Go Live Global. Mayur Mirwani, director of Go Live Global said, “We believe that HOLISTIC will be the largest celebration of yoga in Manchester so far. Our aim is to bring together leading thinkers from around the world, from India, Europe, Asia, and the USA to MediaCity UK.
“The time spent on the mats will offer yogis the ultimate opportunity to enjoy yoga with 799 other people whilst focusing inwards on their own practice. Visitors can also explore our market and tap into our programme of classes inviting them to be more curious about who they are.”
The festival takes place in the same week as the International Day of Yoga on 21 June. This day was founded by the Indian Prime Minster Narendra Modi, and adopted by the UN, and is celebrated by 192 nations worldwide.
Also in attendance will be Michelin Star chef Alfred Prasad, who will discuss the secrets to a successful holistic diet. Chef Prasad, the ambassador for Akshay Patra, the event’s charity partner will demonstrate how to combine Michelin-level cooking with a holistic lifestyle.

Swami Jyothirmayah is a highly regarded international teacher and lecturer on yoga and meditation. He regularly travels across the world to packed audiences to share his knowledge and wisdom. Bijay Anand was a successful Bollywood actor before he decided to focus on spiritualism. He has an holistic approach to health, as well as to the elusive word “Happiness”. The principle philosophy behind Bijay’s teachings is love and its connection with the fourth chakra in our body, the Anāhata Chakra.
Wayne Yeh is a Taiwanese-New Zealander and an exponent of Sri Sri yoga. He received his training in Hong Kong, Montreal, India and Germany, and has shared his yoga and mindfulness all over the world.
Chef Alfred Prasad held a Michelin star at the restaurant Tamarind, in London’s Mayfair for 13 years, and is widely credited with elevating the reputation of British Indian food by his delicate use of fresh, seasonal produce.
