Hindi film Mirzya to receive European premiere in London

mirya4Celebrated Indian filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s latest movie  will be receiving its European premiere at the 60th BFI London Film Festival on Thursday October 6. IndiaGB news reports 

The director who has acclaim for challenging story lines will be joined by stars of the film, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, at the screening, ahead of the film’s worldwide release on October 7.

Mehra’s body of work includes the sports biopic, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Indian drama, Rang De Basanti – BAFTA-nominated for Best Foreign Language Film and India’s official selection for entry to the Academy Awards.

Mirzya is presented and produced by Cinestaan Film Company and ROMP Pictures.

mirzya2Mirzya embodies the ew age Indian cinema introducing a new generation of acting talent in principals, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, alongside Anuj Choudhry, all of whom make screen debuts. Supporting them onscreen is Anjali Patil and a seasoned collection of international actors including Art Malik, Om Puri and K.K. Raina.

Mirzya has been written by Academy and Grammy award-winning poet and lyricist, Gulzar, while the famous – Indian musical trio of contemporary times, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, has crafted a atmospheric soundtrack.

Internationally, Polish DOP, Pawel Dyllus, has shot the film, featuring action sequences directed by Danny Baldwin (The Last Samurai) and special effects courtesy of Prana (Life of Pi, Transformers, Thor). The film unfolds through state-of-the-art action sequences against the striking terrain of Rajasthan and the mountainous landscape of Ladakh.

Now in its 60th year, BFI London Film Festival is Britain’s leading film event and one of the world’s best known film festivals. It introduces the finest new British and international films to the movie industry.
